A lower TiO₂ price can look attractive.
But before switching suppliers, a smart procurement decision should go beyond the price per ton.
1. Check the dosageIf the new TiO₂ has lower tinting strength or opacity, you may need a higher dosage to achieve the same result. The lower price may disappear quickly.
2. Check dispersionGood TiO₂ should disperse consistently in your actual formulation.Poor dispersion can affect processing, surface appearance, and final product quality.
3. Check the final performanceDont compare only TDS numbers.Test the TiO₂ in your actual formulation and compare whiteness, opacity, tinting strength, gloss, or other key properties that matter to your product.
4. Check batch-to-batch consistencyA good first sample is not enough. For regular production, consistency from shipment to shipment can be more important than a one-time low price.
5. Calculate the real costThe right question is not:“Which TiO₂ is cheaper per ton?”It is:“Which TiO₂ gives me the lowest cost at the same final performance?”For TiO₂ procurement, a lower quotation is worth considering—but only after you understand what you are actually getting for that price.
